Tips for Detailing the Inside of Your Car

You know how quickly your car can get messy if you have kids. When shuffling between the many different practices and appointments kids are bound to have, it’s not long before your car is a mess. Thankfully, you can get it back to the condition it was when you first found your new Lincoln for sale with a little bit of elbow grease.

Remove all Trash and Personal Belongings

First things first, remove all trash and personal belongings from your car. Bring a laundry basket to put all the items you need inside and a trash can to remove all the trash. Look under seats, trunk, and other nooks and crannies. Be thorough and make sure you remove everything.

Wipe Down All Cup Holders and Surfaces

Next, grab either a disinfectant wipe or a disinfecting spray and cloth and wipe down the hard surfaces in your car. Cup holders in the back seat can get particularly gunky, as kids love using them as their own personal trash cans. If you have leather seats, give them a good wipe-down as well.

Vacuum Thoroughly

Vacuum Thoroughly

Next up is vacuuming all of the French fries, cereal crumbs, and other small debris from your car. Be thorough and use brush attachments to get in the car’s nooks and crannies. Remember to vacuum the crevices of the seats, underneath the seats, and the trunk. You can use your vacuum from home, but a better option may be to use the vacuum cleaners at your local car wash. These vacuums have stronger suction and are less likely to get clogged, helping return your car to the way it was when you first found your new Lincoln for sale.

Treat Stains

If you have cloth seats, you may have some stains on your seat. Use some stain remover to treat them. If you want to go a step further, you can use a steam cleaner to help treat the stains. Depending on the severity of the stain and how long it’s been there, you may find that some of them need multiple treatments.

Shampoo Carpets

Similarly, now’s a great time to shampoo the carpets in your vehicle. Even after vacuuming, there’s bound to be pieces of cereal bar shoved in the carpet, along with some spills from juices and dipping sauces. Shampooing the carpets can remove these stains and return your carpet to new condition.

Clean the Glass

Take a moment to clean the windows, windshield, and other glass with some glass cleaner. This can get rid of fingerprints and other debris. Use a microfiber cloth to prevent dust or streaks on the finish.

Keep Up with Maintenance

Once you have finished with the car detailing, keep up with the maintenance. Set some ground rules for your kids so that they can be a part of helping keep it clean. Bring trash and belongings every time you go inside and clean up after yourselves. Consider enacting a no-food or drink rule in your car if you feel that food contributes to the mess more than anything else. With these steps, you can return your car to like new condition, making it less stressful and more functional.
